Last weekend’s project was to finish my arduino-based boxing glove dryer. I originally had it in a cardboard box from Moo.com but didn’t like the look of it and after doing the benchlight/solder fan in a plastic box from Muji, I decided to use another for the glove dryer.
I also updated the firmware (aka “sketch” in Arduino terms) as well. I found that the fans would bounce on and off after a while of steady runtime and I think what was happening is the air in the gloves would get dry enough to shut down the fans, then more moisture would seep out of the gloves into the air and trigger the fans again. The update turns the fans on for 30 minutes straight then shuts them off to re-evaluate the humidity.
I’m also thinking of adding a switch that will manually re-correlate the sensors with a press. Currently I just unplug and replug the unit to restart it.
